NEW DELH: In its latest update, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has acknowledged the decision made by the Court of Appeal in Qatar regarding the Dahra Global case involving eight former Indian Navy officers. The court's ruling notably includes a reduction in the sentences imposed on the individuals involved.

"We have taken note of the verdict issued today by the Court of Appeal in Qatar in relation to the Dahra Global case, wherein the sentences have been revised downwards," stated the MEA.

Awaiting the comprehensive judgment, the MEA emphasized its continued support and engagement in this matter. The Indian Ambassador to Qatar, alongside other officials and family members, were present during the proceedings at the Court of Appeal. The statement reaffirmed India's unwavering commitment to providing both consular and legal aid to the concerned individuals.

"From the onset of this issue, we have steadfastly stood by them, and we are dedicated to further extending all necessary assistance. Additionally, we will persist in addressing this matter with the Qatari authorities," the MEA asserted concerning the recent developments in the Dahra Global case in Qatar.
