Today is the birth anniversary of the great ruler and Rani Ahilyabai Holkar of Malwa province. Rani Ahilyabai Holkar was born in 1725 AD to Mankoji Shinde in Chhori village of Aurangabad city of Maharashtra. People also know her as Rajmata Ahilyadevi Holkar. Her father Mankoji Shinde himself belonged to the Dhangar community.

From childhood, there was a sense of compassion and loyalty:-
When no woman in the village not had knowledge to education, Mankoji started reading and writing to her daughter at home. Though Ahilyabai was not from any royal dynasty, fate had something else to her. In fact, on her way to Pune, Malhar Rao Holkar had stayed in Chondi village for rest, He was the king of Malwa or peshwa at that time. It was then that he caught sight of eight-year-old Ahilyabai, who was feeding the hungry and the poor. Seeing the girl's kindness and loyalty at such a young age, Malhar Rao Holkar asked for Ahilya's relationship for his son Khanderao Holkar.

Bride born at the age of 8:-
Thus, in 1733, 8-year-old Ahilya Bai, married to Khanderao, arrived at the Holkar dynasty of the Maratha community as a bride. But acloud of crisis prevailed over Ahilyabai when her husband Khanderao Holkar attained valour due to the Battle of Kumbher in 1754. Ahilyabai was only 21 years old at the time. When Ahilyabai decided to become Sati after her husband's death, her father-in-law Malhar Rao Holkar stopped her. Ahilya's father-in-law stood by her in every case.

She used to fight on the back of an elephant:-
In 1766, when his father-in-law said goodbye to the world, she saw his territory scattered like a card. In that case, Ahilyadevi was entrusted with the responsibility. She showed interest not only in military matters but also in administrative matters when her father-in-law spoke and effectively executed her. After Malhar Rao's death, she requested the throne of the Peshwa to hand over the administrative reins of the area. After obtaining permission, Rani Ahilyadevi became the ruler of Malwa in 1766. She made Tukoji Holkar a military commander. She received the full help of her royal army. Ahilyabai led many wars. She was a courageous warrior and a tremendous archer. She used to fight on the back of the elephant. He always kept his territory safe for many years with Bhils and Gonds who were always ready to attack.
