Mumbai: Rahul Gandhi, who resigned as Congress national president, appeared in Mumbai's Shivri Court on Thursday in an RSS defamation case. During the court hearing, Rahul said, "I am not guilty in this case, I am innocent. The court granted him anticipatory bail on a bond of 15,000 rupees. Rahul Gandhi's bond was filled by Congress leader Eknath Gaikwad.

Apart from Rahul Gandhi, CPI(M) leader Sitaram Yechury had also reached the court to appear before the court in connection with the case. Rahul Gandhi, who was caught up in the objectionable rhetoric in the Gauri Lankesh murder case, was present in the court. Rahul Gandhi had disputed the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in the Gauri Lankesh murder case.

Rahul Gandhi had come into contention by pointing out the RSS' hand behind the assassination of Gauri Lankesh. Objecting to Rahul Gandhi's statement, RSS volunteer and professional lawyer Dhritman Joshi had filed a case against Rahul Gandhi in the Shivri Court in Mumbai.

Rahul Gandhi appeared before the Shivdi court on Thursday morning after several court hearings. During the last hearing in the court, Rahul Gandhi's lawyers had told the court that Rahul Gandhi could not come to the court because he was busy campaigning for the Lok Sabha elections. The court had ordered Rahul Gandhi to appear before it.
