NEW DELHI: Congress National President Rahul Gandhi had offered his resignation after a hard-fought defeat in the Lok Sabha elections 2019, though Rahul Gandhi had agreed to continue as party president for some time after senior party workers persuaded him to continue as party president. Despite this, there have been frequent reports of Rahul quitting.
Talking to youth Congress workers, Rahul Gandhi said that he will quit tomorrow if not today. Rahul further said, "I am sorry that after my resignation, no chief minister, general secretary or state president has resigned from the responsibility of defeat."
In fact, on Wednesday, a Youth Congress had gathered outside Rahul Gandhi's house and the aim was to prevent Rahul Gandhi from resigning and continue as Congress President. When the Members of the National Executive sat outside his house in support of Rahul, Rahul invited everyone to his house and told them his mind.
At the meeting, a Youth Congress leader said, "Sir (Rahul Gandhi) this is a collective defeat, it is the responsibility of all, so why should you resign? I am sorry that after my resignation, no chief minister, general secretary or state president has resigned from responsibility for the defeat."
