Burhanpur: Congress MP Rahul Gandhi has reached Burhanpur today with Bharat Jodo Yatra. Rahul entered Madhya Pradesh from Bodarli, a village connecting Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh. The entry of this yatra from Burahanpur to Madhya Pradesh today is considered special because Indira Gandhi came to Burhanpur 41 years ago in 1980. Most notably, Indira Gandhi addressed an election meeting under torchlight at 2 am in the same village from where the yatra entered Madhya Pradesh. At that time Indira stayed here for three days.

In 1980, Indira Gandhi came to Burhanpur due to the Lok Sabha elections. He had sought votes for former MP Thakur Shiv Kumar Singh here. Indira Gandhi campaigned in Burhanpur and Nepanagar for three days. Thousands of people stood on the streets watching and listening to them. In this election, Shiv Kumar Singh defeated senior BJP leader Kushabhau Thakre. A similar scene was seen today. Thousands of workers and the general public were seen here to welcome Rahul Gandhi. Former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi roamed the streets of the city in an open jeep for three days due to the election of Lok Sabha election candidate Thakur Shivkumar Singh. During the campaign, many meetings were addressed. People in big states were present on the streets and rooftops of houses to hear them and get a glimpse of them. That's all seen once again today. People were seen on the streets in thousands to see Rahul Gandhi.

It is not that after Indira Gandhi, Rahul is the first person from the Gandhi family who is coming to Burhanpur. Former Congress President Sonia Gandhi has also come to Burhanpur. She had reached the sugar factory in Jhiri in 2000 to mask the body of former MP Thakur Shiv Kumar Singh here. Years ago former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi also visited Khandwa. She had come to address the Awami Jalsha to strengthen the Congress. Then Burhanpur used to be a part of the Khandwa district. At the same time, on 26 April 1956, former PM Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru also came to Nepanagar. Due to the visit, many cultural shades of Burhanpur have been seen. Here Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Yatra was welcomed with bands and drums. So the same folk dance was also performed in Banjara costumes. Along with this, Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Yatra was welcomed by a traditional dance in Korru costumes. Yatra will cover a distance of 17 kilometers from Bodarli to Burhanpur.
