New Delhi: Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the Congress party, has regained possession of the residence at 12, Tughlaq Lane, as per sources within the party. This development comes after the restoration of his parliamentary membership following a Supreme Court directive.

Party sources said on Tuesday that Rahul Gandhi has received official confirmation from the Estate office regarding the allocation of the bungalow in Delhi, earmarked for him as a Member of Parliament.

While the Congress leader has been offered the option to reclaim his previous residence at 12, Tughlaq Lane, sources indicated that he is still deliberating on this decision. The source stated, "At present, the offer stands for 12, Tughlaq Lane, his former abode, but his final choice is yet to be made."

Rahul Gandhi has been given an eight-day window to respond to this offer, according to reports. When questioned about this development on Tuesday, the Congress leader responded to reporters saying, "Mera ghar poora Hindustan hai" (the entire country is my home).

The House Committee of the Lok Sabha has opted to reassign the same bungalow that Rahul Gandhi was previously asked to vacate. This eviction came on the heels of Gandhi's disqualification as a member of the lower house on March 24, a consequence of his conviction and subsequent two-year jail sentence for his remarks involving the 'Modi surname.'

Following a Supreme Court intervention that stayed his conviction in the defamation case, Rahul Gandhi's membership in the lower house was reinstated by the Lok Sabha Secretariat on Monday.

The decision to vacate the bungalow had come shortly after the Surat Sessions Court issued an order on April 20, responding to his interim application seeking a stay on his conviction in the defamation case.

In the meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi had taken up residence at the 10 Janpath Road house belonging to former Congress President Sonia Gandhi.
