New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday, wished Group Captain Varun Singh, the lone survivor of the Tamil Nadu military chopper crash, a "quick and complete" recovery and stated the nation is with him on his road to recovery. Gandhi took to Twitter to say, "Wishing Group Captain Varun Singh a speedy and complete recovery. India is rooting for you on your road to recovery."

Singh's physical condition remains severe, according to an Indian Air Force officer, although he is stable. He was transferred from Wellington's Military Hospital to Air Force Command Hospital in Bengaluru on Thursday for further treatment.

President Ram Nath Kovind recently awarded the Shaurya Chakra to the Group Captain for his outstanding heroism.

Thirteen of the 14 personnel on board the Mi-17V5 helicopter were killed when it crashed on December 8, including India's first chief of defence staff (CDS) and his wife Madhulika Rawat. General Rawat, his wife Madhulika Rawat, his Defense Adviser Brigadier Lakhbinder Singh Lidder, Staff Officer Lieutenant Colonel Harjinder Singh, and nine other Armed Forces officials, including the Air Force chopper crew, were killed in the crash.
