New Delhi: Former Congress national president Rahul Gandhi has alleged that the government has lifted a death decree against farmers in the form of these bills after the passage of agricultural bills in Parliament. In a tweet on Sunday, Rahul said, "The farmers grow gold from the land, but the arrogance of the Modi government is making them shed tears of blood. Democracy has been shamed by the manner in which the government passed death warrants against farmers in the form of two farm bills in Rajya Sabha".

The Congress National Spokesperson Randeep Surjewala, after passing the agriculture bill in the upper house, has responded to a tweet that is a big day in India's agricultural history today, saying, "Today is the darkest day in 73 years. P. Jawaharlal Nehru brought the first Constitutional Amendment so that farmers are freed from the exploitation of landlords and land should be handed over to the farmers. PM Modi has brought three laws to hand over the land of farmers and their produce to the new landlords, the capitalists".

In another tweet, Surjewala wrote, "The freedom struggle of 1857 took place because was because Lord Dalhousie had snatched states, and arms from Indians. The freedom struggle of 2020 will be because a dictator is snatching their land and farms from the farmers".
