Rahul Gandhi slams PM Modi over the issue of unemployment

Congress President Rahul Gandhi has again opened an attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the issue of unemployment saying that Modi lives in a denial of the reality of lack of jobs in the country. Gandhi cited Nobel Laureate Paul Krugman’s statement warning India of mass unemployment.

“The Nobel prize-winning economist, Paul Krugman confirms what we've been saying for over two years now. Mass unemployment is the biggest threat India faces. Unfortunately, we have a PM who lives in denial. Afraid his "Acche Din" PR will take a beating,” wrote Gandhi on Twitter.

Paul Krugman, in a speech, had warned that despite a rapid economic growth of the country lack of a job can prove to be a hindrance to the economic growth of India.

The Congress head has earlier lashed out at PM Modi for not being able to generate two crore jobs every year as the latter had promised to the nation. He criticised Modi for taking away jobs from people due to demonetization and ill-planned implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST).

On Saturday, at the Congress Plenary Session, Gandhi had said that the Modi government is drunk with power while referring to the Gujarat fake encounter case in which BJP chief Amit Shah was arrested and later discharged.
