Rahul Gandhi, the Congress head, is gearing up to commence his Bharat Nyay Yatra on January 14. Reports suggest that Gandhi is likely to spend approximately a week in each of the BJP-governed states of Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh, emphasizing their political significance.

According to sources involved in planning the march, who chose to remain anonymous, Gandhi intended to dedicate significant time during the yatra to both Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat. The decision stems from the observation that the previous Bharat Jodo Yatra, initiated by Gandhi in September 2022 from Kanyakumari to Kashmir, spent only three days in Uttar Pradesh and skipped Gujarat due to logistical constraints.

However, the upcoming Bharat Nyay Yatra is anticipated to allocate substantial days to these states, with one Congress leader stating, "Both UP and Gujarat will be given prominence during the yatra. This time, we might spend 6-7 days in both UP and Gujarat."

The Bharat Nyay Yatra aims to echo the success of the previous Bharat Jodo Yatra, which received significant support. As of now, the Congress party holds two seats in Uttar Pradesh and 17 seats in Gujarat. The yatra will also encompass Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh, where the party recently faced defeat in elections against the BJP.

Although the final itinerary is yet to be confirmed, the 150-day-long Yatra is scheduled to cover 14 states, commencing from Manipur in the northeast and concluding in Maharashtra's capital, Mumbai. The states in the route include Manipur, Nagaland, Assam, Meghalaya, West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, and finally Maharashtra.

Ahead of this significant journey, the Congress party is set to convene a meeting on January 4 in the national capital. The meeting, chaired by Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge, will gather the party's state unit chiefs and legislative party leaders. The primary focus will be on discussing preparations for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls and strategizing for the successful execution of the 'Bharat Nyay Yatra'.
