Surat: Former Congress national president Rahul Gandhi arrived in Surat in Gujarat on Thursday morning. Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to appear before a local court here. A defamation case was registered here against a statement made by Rahul Gandhi through the Lok Sabha elections 2019, in which Rahul Gandhi is appearing today. Rahul Gandhi also tweeted before appearing before a Surat court. Rahul wrote in his tweet that 'The whole secret of existence is that there is no fear.'

Let us tell you that Purnesh Modi, MLA of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Gujarat, had filed a defamation case against Rahul Gandhi. It was alleged that Rahul Gandhi had said during the 2019 election campaign that 'all Modis are thieves'. Rahul Gandhi was accused of insulting the Modi community on the same issue. Bjp MLA Accepting Purnesh Modi's complaint, Chief Judicial Magistrate BH Kapadia had summoned Rahul Gandhi.
