New Delhi: Former Congress National President Rahul Gandhi on Monday urged the Modi government at the Center not to impose GST on the medical devices needed to prevent the coronavirus. He tweeted "In this difficult time of Corona crisis, we are constantly demanding from the government that all small and big equipment related to the treatment of this epidemic should be GST-free."

Rahul Gandhi said that it is inappropriate to levy GST on sanitizers, soaps, masks, gloves etc. from the people struggling with disease and poverty. We will stand to demand that all these items be GST-free. Earlier on Saturday, Congress leader Rahul said after the changes in investment rules from the countries adjoining India's borders that he thanks the Narendra Modi government for taking cognizance of his point. He tweeted, saying, "Thank you to the government for taking cognizance of being warned on my behalf and making changes in the rules to make the government's permission mandatory in certain special cases of FDI".
