The Congress party is planning the potential launch of the second phase of its extensive public outreach rally, Bharat Jodo Yatra, spearheaded by Rahul Gandhi, scheduled tentatively for January 2024. Aiming to roll out this public engagement initiative shortly after the initial week of January 2024, the Congress is gearing up for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

The forthcoming rally, termed Bharat Jodo Yatra 2.0, is set to adopt a hybrid format, combining both foot marches and vehicular modes of participation. There are deliberations on two possible routes for this Yatra, with indications pointing to a kick-off from a Northeastern state, as per insider sources.

A senior leader within the Congress highlighted that the focal points of this Yatra would encompass Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Maharashtra. Moreover, in anticipation of the 2024 General Elections, the party is contemplating the inclusion of prominent opposition figures in this initiative, sources revealed.

Mirroring the format of the initial Yatra, several public meetings led by Rahul Gandhi are on the planning board for this second phase. The Yatra's potential trajectory is expected to feature prominently during the Congress Working Group meeting scheduled for December 21.

Rahul Gandhi embarked on the inaugural Bharat Jodo Yatra, traversing from Kanyakumari to Kashmir between September 7, 2022, and January 30 of the current year. The primary aim of this Yatra was to unify India against the divisive political narratives of the ruling party, also addressing critical issues such as unemployment and inequality.

The conclusion of the Yatra in Srinagar marked Gandhi's journey spanning approximately 4,080 kilometres, making it India's most extensive foot march. Over a span of 136 days, the Yatra traversed 75 districts across 12 states, cementing its status as an unprecedented nationwide campaign for unity and socio-political awareness.
