Railway Ministry announces ex-gratia for injured in Pali train derailment

New Delhi: Ashwini Vaishnaw, the minister for railways, communications, electronics, and information technology, has announced ex-gratia payments of Rs 1 lakh and Rs 25,000 for those injured in the early-morning derailment of the Bandra Terminus-Jodhpur Suryanagari Express train in Rajasthan's Pali district.

Taking to Twitter, the minister wrote: "Compensation granted Rs 1 lakh towards grievous injuries, and Rs 25,000 to those with minor injuries."

The Minister said that he ensured all the emergency assistance to the affected passengers of the train."constantly keeping an eye on the tragic Suryanagari Express train disaster between Bandra and Jodhpur. All necessary emergency help and prompt medical care were provided, "he said.

The Northern Western Railway said that the Bandra Terminus-Jodhpur Suryanagari Express train derailed in the early hours of Monday, having an impact on 11 carriages.

The incident took plae between the Rajkiawas-Bomadra area of the Jodhpur division at 3:27 in the morning. The train, which left Bandra Terminus on its way to Jodhpur, officials said.
