On Monday, the Railway Ministry informed that Indian Railways have so far deployed a total of 960 Covid Care coaches in five states. A press release issued by the ministry said that Indian Railways is making all efforts to help the health care efforts of the state governments. The Indian Railways has committed to provide its 5231 Covid Care coaches to the states. The Zonal Railways has converted these coaches into Covid Care Centers. It can be used for patients with very mild or mild symptoms.

In its statement, the ministry further said that so far Indian Railways has deployed a total of 960 Covid Care coaches in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Madhya Pradesh. 503 coaches have been deployed in Delhi, 20 in Andhra Pradesh, 60 in Telangana, 372 in Uttar Pradesh, and 5 in Madhya Pradesh. In Delhi, 503 Covid Care coaches have been deployed at 9 locations. 50 coaches are posted in Shakurbasti, 267 in Anand Vihar, 21 in Delhi Safdarjung, 50 in Delhi Sarai Rohilla, 33 in Delhi Cantt, 30 in Adarsh Nagar, 13 in Delhi Shahdara, 13 in Tughlakabad and 26 in Patel Nagar.

In Uttar Pradesh, a total of 372 Covid Care coaches have been deployed at 23 different places including Deen Dayal Upadhyay Junction, Lucknow, Varanasi, Bhadohi, Faizabad, Saharanpur, Mirzapur, Subedarganj, Kanpur, Jhansi, Jhansi Workshop, Agra, Nakha Jungle, Gonda, Nautanwa, Bahraich, Varanasi City, Manduadih, Mau, Bhatni, Bareilly City, Farrukhabad and Kasganj. In Madhya Pradesh, Gwalior has a total of 5 Covid Care Coaches. In Andhra Pradesh, Vijayawada has a total of 20 Covid Care Coaches deployed, while in Telangana, a total of 60 Covid Care Coaches are deployed at 3 different locations i.e. Secunderabad, Kachguda and Adilabad. Railways is deploying 2 liaison officers for each location of coaches to assist the state government officials.
