The Railway Board on Wednesday issued an order indicating the commencement of mail-express trains and chaircar service amid the Corona transition. In this, a provision has been made to start waiting list from May 22 for the presently operated special trains and all services starting in the future. The railways have also fixed the waiting list limit in these trains. The maximum limit of waiting list in AC three tires will be hundred, 50 for AC two tires, 200 for sleeper, hundred for chair car and 20-20 for first AC and executive class. This change will be applicable on tickets booked from May 15 for trips starting May 22.
This order issued to various zones towards the Railway Board indicates that the Railways is planning to start mixed services in place of the currently operated fully air-conditioned (AC) trains. This means that the railway can start services for small towns as well. However, these trains will not have immediate and premium quota nor RAC tickets will be issued. However, orders have not been issued by the Railways to start more services.
Apart from this, a passenger with the characteristics of Covid-19 will be given a full refund of his ticket if he is not allowed to travel. According to the guidelines of the Union Home Ministry, screening of all railway passengers is mandatory and only passengers without symptoms will be allowed to enter the train. According to the order of the Railway Board, if a passenger has very high fever or shows symptoms of Covid-19 during the screening, then he will not be allowed to travel despite having a confirmed ticket. Full refund will be given to the passenger.
