Our Coast Guard is an exceptional band of experts who steadfastly safeguard our coasts while simultaneously being at the forefront of humanitarian initiatives, making it a strategic organisation "PM Modi sent out a tweet.
On Tuesday, the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) marks its 46th Raising Day. "The ICG has evolved into a powerful force with 158 ships and 70 aircraft in its inventory, and is anticipated to achieve targeted force levels of 200 surface platforms and 80 aircraft by 2025," according to a news release released by the Ministry of Defence on Monday.
According to the announcement, as the world's fourth largest Coast Guard, it has played a key role in securing Indian coasts and implementing regulations in India's maritime zones. In the last year, the ICG has saved over 1,200 lives at sea, and over 11,000 since its start. It has also saved over 13,000 people so far as part of other 'Aid to Civic Authority' operations, such as assisting civil authorities during floods, cyclones, and other natural disasters, most recently during the recent floods in Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Goa.
