Mumbai: After giving an ultimatum to remove loudspeakers from mosques, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena president Raj Thackeray has announced to recite Hanuman Chalisa on the occasion of Hanuman Janmotsav. Raj Thackeray will recite the public Hanuman Chalisa in Pune, Maharashtra, on April 16.

MNS chief Raj Thackeray will recite Hanuman Chalisa on April 16 at 6 pm on the occasion of Hanuman Janmotsav at Khalkar Chowk in Pune and then at Maruti temple. Due to this, Raj Thackeray along with his supporters will also be present on the spot. The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) has also released a poster in which Raj Thackeray has been portrayed as a Hindu Jan Nayak. In the poster, Hanuman ji is described as in a state of anger. The Maha Aarti of Hanuman ji has also been organized by MNS at Maruti Chowk in Pune.

In Maharashtra, 35 workers of his party have resigned following Raj Thackeray's threat to turn off loudspeakers in mosques. The activists were upset with Raj Thackeray's warning that loudspeakers should be removed from the mosques by May 3, otherwise Hanuman Chalisa will be played from the loudspeakers outside every mosque. Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray had advocated a uniform civil code and stressed on the need to control population growth in the country. He had given an ultimatum to the Maharashtra government to remove loudspeakers from mosques by May 3. Addressing an MNS rally in Thane on Tuesday night, Raj Thackeray had said that if the Shiv Sena-led state government did not remove the high-speed loudspeakers from mosques before May 3, MNS workers would play Hanuman Chalisa in front of mosques.
