Jaipur: Electricity consumers in Rajasthan are going to get a big setback. Actually, now the burden of the fuel surcharge is going to increase in the bills of electricity consumers. The consumer will have to pay an additional amount of 21 paise per unit in the bill to be issued in November and December. The DISCOM administration issued its orders on Thursday (27 October). However, the government is bearing the amount of fuel surcharge in the agriculture category as a grant.

Let us tell you that in the name of fuel surcharge, the burden on the pockets of the consumers is increasing continuously. In the form of a fuel surcharge under the Congress government of the state, an additional burden of 69 paise per unit has been imposed on the consumers so far. DISCOM President Bhaskar A Sawant has informed that according to the calculation process prescribed by the Electricity Regulatory Commission for the third quarter October to December of the financial year 2021-22, the amount of fuel surcharge recoverable from consumers has been fixed at 21 paise per unit. This amount is chargeable on the consumption of the previous quarter July to September 2021.

DISCOM President Sawant has told that this fuel surcharge amount will be recovered from consumers other than the agriculture category in the electricity bills for November and December 2022 in two equal instalments. The amount of fuel surcharge in the agriculture category is borne by the state government as a grant.
