Jaipur: Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot has devised a new strategy to tackle the growing discontent among Congress workers and MLAs in Rajasthan. This is the strategy to set up a Legislative Council in the state. CM Ashok Gehlot has decided to send a proposal to the Central government for the constitution of the Legislative Council.

After the Cabinet meeting held on Wednesday night, at 10 pm, the Rajasthan government announced that the Cabinet has given the green signal to set up a Legislative Council in the state. Therefore, now a proposal for final approval of the assembly formation will be sent to the Central Government. State that if the Legislative Council gets the green signal for the State of Rajasthan, an additional 15 Ministers can be made in the State by combining the members of the Legislative Council and the Legislative Assembly. But it's not easy. Earlier also, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has sent such proposals in all his three terms. Vasundhara Raje had also sent a proposal to the Central government to set up a Legislative Council in 2008.

In 2008, when the then Vasundhara government sent a proposal to the Central Government to set up a Legislative Council, the Union Ministry of Law and Justice sought the opinion of the State Government on the suggestions made by the Standing Committee of Parliament on the matter. But for nine years, the state government did not send an opinion on the matter. But now Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has announced that opinion will also be sent again.
