New Delhi: Hearing has started in the High Court on Monday at 10 am on the petition of former Deputy CM Sachin Pilot and 18 other rebel MLAs of Congress amid the political crisis in Rajasthan. The MLAs had challenged the notice of the Speaker of the Assembly in the High Court. Advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, appearing for Speaker CP Joshi, is putting his plea before the court.
Advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, appearing on behalf of the assembly speaker, said in his plea that this matter does not come under the jurisdiction of the court. A bench of Rajasthan High Court Chief Justice Inderjit Mahanti and Justice Prakash Gupta heard this petition on Friday. A big decision is expected in today's hearing on the petition of rebel MLAs in the High Court. Senior advocate Harish Salve, appearing on behalf of Pilot and rebel MLAs, argued in the court, "Violation of Whip's directives regarding acts done outside the House is not covered under the anti-defection law."
He said that "working with the dictatorial attitude of CM is an internal issue". The disqualification notice is an attempt to stop 'freedom of expression' and internal discussion. Assembly Speaker CP Joshi's lawyer Abhishek Manu Singhvi said that the petition challenging the notice of the Speaker is "premature". In his reply, he said that the court cannot interfere with the notice issued by the speaker.
