Jaipur: Rajasthan food and civil supplies minister Ramesh Meena threatened a farmer. The incident took place on April 15 when state minister Ramesh Meena threatened a farmer to stay quiet after he questioned the loan waiver scheme by the Ashok Gehlot government in the state. The whole incident was captured on camera, and the video went viral on social media.

The incident occurred when state minister Meena had gone to attend the rally of Congress candidate Sanjay Jhatav at Karauli district. A farmer present at the venue confronted the minister and raised questions regarding the loan waiver scheme, which Congress president Rahul Gandhi had said would be implemented within 10 days of the formation of the government in Rajasthan.
“What have you waivered Rs 2 lakhs for? You just tell me what have you waivered Rs 2 lakh for?” the farmer can be heard asking the minister in the video. The Congress minister initially told the farmer to “stop screaming” and at one point forcefully holds his hand.
Last year, the Congress government had promised a complete loan waiver in the state. However, farmers claim that the government waived off loans of only co-operative banks, which accounts for only 17% of the total farm loans. Madanlal, a farmer from Kucherinagr village of Nagaur, had previously told Mirror Now earlier this month, "I took a loan of Rs 2.50 lakh in 2014. The government has not waived anything yet.”
