New Delhi: Nalini, accused in the Rajiv Gandhi murder case, has sat on a hunger strike in Vellore jail in Tamil Nadu. Nalini did not have breakfast in the morning on Saturday. Nalini has said that she and her husband have been imprisoned for 28 years. Nalini argues that she is away from her daughter for 28 years and has filed several petitions till now but the petition has not received a satisfactory response.

Nalini's father-in-law is looking after her daughter, but her father-in-law is also not well. He is coming to India for treatment. Nalini has demanded a month of parole to look after her father-in-law. Among the accused in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination, A.G. Perarivalan, V. Sriharan alias Murugan, T. Sutendrarajaraja alias Santan, Jayakumar, Robert Pius, Ravichandran and Sriharan's wife Nalini Sriharan. These include both Indian and Sri Lankan.

All seven people have been imprisoned since 1991 when the LTTE female suicide bomber killed Rajiv Gandhi at an election public meeting in Chennai. The Liberation Tiger of Tamil Illum (LTTE) was accused of killing Rajiv Gandhi. The Tamil Tigers were abolished in 2009 by the Sri Lankan Army.
