New Delhi: In a significant move, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is set to preside over a crucial all-party meeting on Wednesday afternoon, convened by the Central government. The primary objective of this gathering is to ensure the smooth functioning of the upcoming monsoon session of Parliament, which is scheduled to commence on Thursday.

During this meeting, opposition parties will apprise the government about the key issues they intend to raise throughout the session. Simultaneously, the government has also prepared its legislative agenda, emphasizing the importance of productive discussions on matters of national interest.

Also, today's schedule includes a meeting of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) floor leaders, further indicating the significance of this pre-session gathering.

The monsoon session of Parliament is expected to continue until August 11, encompassing a total of 17 sittings. Notably, the session will convene in the historic old Parliament building, adding to the grandeur and heritage of the proceedings.

In an effort to encourage meaningful engagement, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi has earnestly appealed to all participating parties to contribute constructively towards the legislative business and other important items on the agenda.

Meanwhile, the opposition parties recently held a unity meeting in Bengaluru, where they decided to form a collective called the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA). This alliance consists of leaders from 26 opposition parties who attended the two-day Bengaluru meeting, following a previous gathering held in Patna.

It is worth mentioning that the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance also conducted a meeting, graced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, underscoring the government's commitment to effective governance.

During the monsoon session, particular attention is expected to be given to the bill aimed at replacing the existing ordinance pertaining to the control of services in Delhi. Furthermore, the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Bill 2023, which received Cabinet approval earlier this month, is anticipated to be introduced for discussion.

Amidst these developments, the Congress party has put forth several pressing issues for discussion, including the situation in Manipur and the need to safeguard federal structures, among others. By engaging in meaningful debates and addressing these critical matters, the upcoming monsoon session holds the promise of facilitating progress and positive change for the nation.
