Rajnath Singh in Vietnam: Hands over Rs 500 mn for training aids

HANOI: Defense Minster  Shri Rajnath Singh paid a visit to Vietnam's training institutions as part of his three-day official tour to the Southeast Asian country. Shri Rajnath Singh, who is in Vietnam to strengthen bilateral defence cooperation, began his day with a visit to the Air Force Officers Training School in Nha Trang.

On behalf of the Government of India, he presented a one-million-dollar contribution to the School for the development of a language and information technology laboratory. In a speech to the officers at the school, he expressed his hope that the laboratory will help to improve the linguistic and IT skills of Vietnam's Air Defence and Air Force troops.

Shri Rajnath Singh then went to Nha Trang's Telecommunications University, where an Army Software Park is being built with a USD 5 million subsidy from the Indian government. The grant was announced in September 2016 during Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's visit to Vietnam.

During his visit to Vietnam, the Raksha Mantri met with General Phan Van Giang, Minister of National Defense, and paid a courtesy call on President Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.

During his visit to the Hong Ha Shipyard in Hai Phong on June 9, 2022, Shri Rajnath Singh handed over 12 High Speed Guard Boats to Vietnam. The boats were built with funds from the Indian government's $US 100 million Defense Line of Credit to Vietnam.
