New Delhi: Union External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will address the Rajya Sabha today at 2.30 p.m. on the current situation in Ukraine.

Jaishankar will speak about the rescue operation to remove Indian students from the war zone in Ukraine in the second part of Parliament's Budget Session, as well as India's position on the crisis between Russia and Ukraine.

On February 24, the Indian government started 'Operation Ganga' to return trapped Indians back to India.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had sent four central ministers, Kiren Rijiju, Hardeep Singh Puri, Jyotiraditya Scindia, and General (Retd) VK Singh, to Ukraine's neighbouring countries to coordinate rescue efforts for the stranded Indians.

In more than 80 special evacuation flights, India has been able to rescue nearly 22,500 stranded individuals. India's 'Operations Ganga' have also resulted in the rescue of numerous nationals from neighbouring countries such as Bangladesh and Nepal. After the Narendra Modi government initiated operation 'Devi Shakti' in Afghanistan last year, 'Operation Ganga' has been India's largest evacuation mission in recent months to bring back displaced Indians.
