S Jaishankar to make statement on Ukraine-Russia war in RS tomorrow

NEW DELHI: External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar will give a remark on the Ukraine-Russia conflict In the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday. Jaishankar will make a comment on the disagreement, said Chairman M. Venkaiah Naidu.

Naidu also praised the union and state governments for rising to the challenge of evacuating Indian students. Later, during zero hour, participants expressed concern about the future of Ukrainian students.

K. Ravindra Kumar, a TDP MP, said that now that the students' safety and security had been assured, the government should take the required steps to protect their future by consulting all stakeholders.

"Students who returned from Ukraine owing to the war are in a really terrible situation," Congress MP K.C. Venugopal said. "The government must explain out the actions it is doing to accommodate medical students who were compelled to return from Ukraine leaving their degree midway," he said, adding that their family is most concerned about their future.  Dr. Amar Patnaik, a BJD MP, proposed reserving two to five percent of seats in all private and public colleges for students who have returned from Ukraine. Dr. Santanu Sen of the TMC has advocated for special measures to accommodate these students in the country.

On Monday, the second phase of the Budget session began and will end on April 8. In addition to transacting legislative work, the Rajya Sabha is expected to spend more than 64 hours debating issues of public significance.
