New Delhi:The winter session of the No. Rajya Sabha Speaker Venkaiah Naidu expressed his concern and displeasure over the functioning of the House at the end of the winter session which concluded today. In his brief closing address, Naidu requested members to collectively meditate and introspect individually.
He said, 'The Winter Session of the House is coming to an end today. I am not at all happy to tell you that the House has acted very little than it could. I request all of you to think collectively and personally and introspect on how this session could have been different and better.' Naidu said, 'I don't want to elaborate on this session because if I speak, it can show a very critical approach. During this session, data on various aspects of the business of the House will be released.'
He said that during the 18 meetings of the Winter Session held today, the Rajya Sabha was able to function in just 47.90 per cent time. The rest of the time was wasted. Out of the total scheduled sitting time of 95 hours 6 minutes, the House was able to function only for 45 hours and 34 minutes.
