Mumbai: Maharashtra Congress Chief Nana Patole has recently indicated that the Congress party will contest the upcoming assembly elections alone and not as part of the Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance. Now, in view of his indications, Union Minister Ramdas Athawale has given his response. "The Congress party is weaker than ncp and Shiv Sena, so it should avoid contesting alone," he said. Talking to a famous website recently, Ramdas Athawale said, "The Maha Vikas Aghadi government was formed with the help of 42 Congress MLAs. Nana Patole should talk to Uddhav Thackeray and Sharad Pawar and talk to his party about appointing him as chief minister for the next two-and-a-half years. If that were not the case, the Congress should pull out of the alliance''.

At the same time, he also said, "The Congress is weak at the moment as compared to NCP and Shiv Sena and contesting alone will not help. Let us tell you that Ramdas Athawale's statement comes at a time when differences in the Maha Vikas Aghadi government are mounting. On the other hand, the congress is the most unhappy congress in the alliance, which has now hinted at contesting alone.

Ramdas Athawale also reacted to election strategist Prashant Kishore's meeting with NCP chief Sharad Pawar in the recent past. "Not all opposition parties can be one under Sharad Pawar's leadership. Some will consider Sonia Gandhi as the leader while others will consider Rahul Gandhi. It is not going to happen. In the 2024 elections, the government will be formed under the leadership of Narendra Modi".
