Puducherry's Chief Minister, N. Rangasamy, has confirmed his attendance at a significant gathering of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in New Delhi on Tuesday, July 18, 2023.

According to a reliable source within the All India N. R Congress (AINRC), Mr. Rangasamy's political party, he received a formal invitation from J.P. Nadda, the national president of the Bharatiya Janata Party, which is a constituent of the NDA.

An official from the Chief Minister's Office stated, "The invitation from Mr. Nadda has been accepted by the Chief Minister, and he will be present at the meeting on Tuesday."

The NDA meeting is expected to be attended by prominent leaders such as Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and other influential figures representing the Bharatiya Janata Party's alliance partners. This scheduled meeting is seen as a demonstration of their collective strength in preparation for the upcoming 2024 Parliamentary polls.

Prior to the 2021 Assembly elections in Puducherry, the AINRC officially joined the NDA. The party, along with the Bharatiya Janata Party and the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), formed an alliance that emerged victorious, subsequently establishing the first NDA government in Puducherry.

Preparations by the BJP for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls have been underway. Several months after the formation of the government, the party announced its intention to field a candidate for the lone seat from the Union Territory. To facilitate their efforts, the central leadership of the BJP appointed Union Minister of State for Fisheries L. Murugan as the in-charge for the polls.

Following his appointment, the Minister has conducted numerous visits to Puducherry to engage with the party's booth level workers.
