Today, Co-director of 'Peepli Live', Mahmood Farooqui sentenced to 7 years in prison for raping a 30-year-old US researcher last year by Delhi Court.

On Tuesday, the Delhi police sought maximum punishment for Farooqui, as they said the crime brought disgrace to the country.

On September 30 Farooqui was convicted of the rape charges and taken into custody by the Delhi Police.

Police had on July 29 last year filed a charge sheet against Farooqui alleging that he had raped the research scholar from Colombia University at his Sukhdev Vihar house in south Delhi on March 28 last year.
