New Delhi: The mother of a 19-year-old girl who committed suicide in September last year after being allegedly raped by the nephew of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader, urged Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal not to promote the leaders with a criminal background. Along with this, the victim's mother also reminded the CM to fulfill the promises made by him.

The teenager committed suicide on September 20 last year after allegedly raping and blackmailing a young man. The accused of the same was the nephew of AAP leader Dayanand Chandela. The young man also had some inappropriate videos of the victim. According to the victim's mother, her daughter studied at the Amity YWCA and was a star on the social media platform, where she had more than 7.5 lakh followers. In his letter to the national president of AAP, she accused the police of not taking any action, as the Chandela family has a stronghold in the area and is known for criminal activities.

He said, "My daughter's friend informed us that Karan Chandela had some objectionable videos through which he used to blackmail my daughter. When I went out for some work, my daughter did not in my absence hanged in the house. The police is not taking appropriate action. Apart from having criminal background the Chandela family also has connections in political corridors. "
