Indore: Raping attempt on a minor girl, 50-year-old man arrested - A fifty-year-old man was detained for allegedly abducting and attempting to rape an 8-year-old girl under Kanadiya police station locality in Indore (Madhya Pradesh), the police said.
The incident took place on November 5 in the evening. The male, Shaharyar Mirza, was seen with the child on CCTV footage that was also found by the police.
According to Jagdish Prasad Jamre, the in-charge of the Kanadia police station, the accused Mirza, a resident of Khajrana, kidnapped the girl who was playing in the locality and went to a desolate location. He attempted to violate the victim while taking her clothes off. A few villagers spotted the girl in the interim and saved her.
The community went to the police station to demand that something be done about him as a result. The police detained the suspect after filing a case under many statutes, including the POCSO act and kidnapping.
