New Delhi: For the past two months, the Qutub Minar in Delhi's Mehrauli has been being discussed everywhere. Here the idols of gods and goddesses related to Hinduism and various symbols related to Jainism are being found. According to reports, the statue is attached to a pillar of the disputed structure known as The Quwwat-ul-Islam Mosque in the Qutub Minar complex. It had been trying to be identified for many years, but now archaeologist Dharamvir Sharma has identified it as the statue of Lord Narasimha and devotee Prahlad.

Dharamveer Sharma, who was the regional director of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), claims that the statue dates back to the period of the Pratihara kings in the eighth-ninth century. For years, efforts were being made to identify it and after a lot of effort, now the archaeologist has identified this statue. It is being claimed that this statue is 1200 years old and it dates back to the time of Pratihara kings or king Anangpal. Mihir Bhoja has been the most majestic king among the Pratihara kings. The photographs of this statue have been sent to expert archaeologists from all over the country for special study. He says that this is a rare idol of Lord Narasimha, no other place to find this type of idol. Sharma, a renowned archaeologist, says, "So far, we have only been looking at the statue of Lord Narasimha, which depicts Hiranyakashyap with nails being ripped off by Lord Narasimha by placing Hiranyakashyap on his knee. But it is shown in this statue that when the angry Lord Narasimha killed Hiranyakashyap, the whole earth was burning due to his anger. At that time the gods then prayed to the devotee Prahlada, because he was a dear devotee of Lord Narasimha and he could calm the wrath of the Lord. Then Prahlad prayed to Lord Narasimha, pleased with this, God made him sit on his lap and his anger calmed down.''

Dharamvir Sharma has also served as the Regional Director of ASI in Delhi. Talking about the statue, National Monuments Authority chief Tarun Vijay said that the statue identified in the Qutub Minar is amazing. This statue is a centre of special attraction for religious and studying people. The photographs of this statue have been delivered to the expert archaeologists of the country for special study.
