New Delhi: Noted industrialist Ratan Tata, former Supreme Court judge KT Thomas and former Deputy Lok Sabha Speaker Karia Munda have been made trustees of the PM Cares Fund. In this regard, the Prime Minister's Office has issued a statement confirming this. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday held a meeting with the Board of Trustees of the Prime Minister's Cares Fund.
The meeting was attended by Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. Both are trustees of the PM Cares Fund. In the same meeting, Ratan Tata, KT Thomas and Karia Munda were inducted as the new trustees of the fund. In the same meeting, the trust members also nominated other eminent personalities to constitute the advisory board of the PM Cares Fund. These individuals included former CAG of India Rajiv Mehrishi, former Chairman of Infosys Foundation Sudha Murthy and former CEO of India Corps and Piramal Foundation Anand Shah.
In this meeting, PM Narendra Modi said that with the addition of new trustees and advisors, the functioning of the Prime Minister's Cares Fund will get a more comprehensive view. He said that the experience of these individuals in public life will help in making this trust more responsive to public needs.
What is PM CARES Fund?
The PM Cares Fund was launched on March 28, 2020, under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Modi. Through this fund, the government aims to provide relief in the event of an emergency and crisis like Corona. This fund works solely with voluntary support from people or organizations.
