According to Tata, builders should be ashamed for slum settlements to emerge in cities. Recently, during an online discussion on the future design and construction topic, Ratan Tata said, "The outbreak of the global epidemic coronavirus has exposed the housing crisis in the city. Millions of people in Mumbai are bereft of clean air and open space. The builders have made slums where there is no cleaning arrangement."

Ratan Tata further said that we design high-end housing where there used to be slums. These slums are like a remnant of development. We should be ashamed because on one hand we want to show our good image and on the other side there is such a part which we want to hide.
