Shimla: In Himachal Pradesh, 34 thousand people getting cheap rations in depots are going to stop. There are 34 thousand such people in the state who are taking advantage of getting cheap rations by making fake ration cards in the state as well as in other states. They are going to be blocked due to double entry. These ration card holders are residents of other states. Himachal Pradesh Food Supply Corporation has put a list of fake ration card holders on the departmental website to inform the outside states. It has been said that the names of these members are being kept or removed from the ration cards made in other states only.

According to the plan of the central government, it is necessary to have only one ration card in the country. Regarding this, the state government has also issued instructions to the Food, Civil, and Consumer Affairs Department to verify the ration card along with the Aadhaar card. Only after verification have the names of those who got cheap rations by making 34 thousand fake ration cards come to light.

Not only this, there are many cases in which, even after getting married, the names of women have not been struck off from the ration cards, while they have been added elsewhere. There are 19.5 lakh ration card holders in the state. The state government is providing subsidised rations to the consumers at the depots, which include three pulses of Malka, Maash, and Dal Chana, two litres of oil (refined and mustard), sugar, and one kilogramme of salt. Along with that, the central government is giving flour and rice on subsidy. People are getting this ration at half the price as compared to the market price. In such a situation, people have gotten their ration cards from two places. Ravindra Thakur, joint director of the Food Civil and Consumer Affairs Department, has said that the final figure of double entry in the ration cards received from the districts has arrived.
