New Delhi: Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on Wednesday issued a guideline for the telecom sector. Ravi Shankar Prasad said that the guidelines being issued today are a big revolution in the development of the telecom sector in the country. He said India's BPO industry is currently around Rs 2.8 lakh crore, but it is expected to reach 3.9 lakh crore by 2025.

Ravi Shankar Prasad said the guideline is going to make India a major OSP (other service provider) centre and these guidelines are to create more opportunities in the country. The BPO industry in the world is growing and big companies are focusing on outsourcing and India is a big pool of human resources, talent and infrastructure. The Union Minister further said that the gap between domestic and international OSP has been removed. A BPO Centre with a shared telecom resource will now be able to serve customers worldwide, including India.

He said this is a big step in reform that we have taken. Secondly, the electronic private automatic branch exchange (EPABX) of the OSP can be located anywhere in the world.  Ravi Shankar Prasad said that remote agents of OSP can now connect directly to the centralized EPABX of the consumer using any technology including broadband, wireline, wireless etc.
