New Delhi: Captaincy is going to be an important issue again after the Poor performance of the Indian team in South Africa. Virat Kohli has already given up the captaincy. He is no longer the captain of Team India in any format. BCCI has made Rohit Sharma the captain of the white ball. But there is still suspense about the Test captain.
Virat Kohli quit the captaincy as India lost the Test series 2-1. Now, a big statement from former Team India head coach Ravi Shastri has surfaced. According to Shastri, Virat Kohli could have captained the Indian Test team for another 2 years now. Talking to the media, he said, 'I think he could have easily been the captain of the Test team for the next 2 years. But he has resigned from his post and we should appreciate his decision.' Ravi Shastri's head coach's contract with the Indian team ended after the 2021 T20 World Cup. He is now replaced by Rahul Dravid as the head coach of Team India.
When Virat Kohli and Ravi Shastri were captain and coach, Team India clinched the Test series in Australia and also led the series played in England 2-1, the final Test of which will be played in mid this year. Shastri described his 7-year tenure with Team India as satisfactory. It also said that the future of this team is bright.
