New Delhi: India is scheduled to start the ODI series against the West Indies on Friday (July 22). Shikhar Dhawan has been appointed as the captain of Team India and Ravindra Jadeja as the vice-captain for the three-match ODI series. In this series, Jadeja will have a chance to break the record of 1983 World Cup-winning Indian captain Kapil Dev. But even before the series started, there has been a problem with Jadeja in the West Indies.

Jadeja's availability will be decided just before the match, as the team management is consulting the medical team after assessing the injury. Jadeja may now be given rest for the ODI series. If Jadeja is out, the wait for this record will increase further. In Jadeja's absence, India will have to pick Akshar Patel in the final XI as a spin bowling all-rounder along with Yuzvendra Chahal.
