New Delhi: Union IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad created a ruckus with his statement on recession a few days ago. His statement was severely criticized by other opposition parties, including the Congress. Prasad rejected the recession and said that when three films can do business of Rs 120 crores in a day, it cannot be called recession. He faced criticism over this statement. In a statement on Sunday, Prasad said that a part of his statement was presented completely out of perspective. He said that I am a sensitive person, so I withdraw my statement.

The Union Minister on Saturday also rejected the report of the National Sample Survey on the high unemployment rate. Prasad said, "My comments made yesterday in Mumbai about three films making Rs 120 crore in a single day- the highest ever, was a factually correct statement. I had stated this as I was in Mumbai- the film capital of India. We are very proud of our film industry which provided employment to lakhs of people and contributes significantly by way of taxes.

According to Prasad, he gave detailed information about the steps taken by the government which are going to help the people and which will give a boost to our economy. The government led by Narendra Modi has always taken care of the sensitivity of the people. Full video of my statement is available on social media. Nevertheless, I regret that a part of my statement was distorted. He said that some people are misleading people about the unemployment scenario. Let me tell you that Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi had made a very strong comment on this statement.
