MADRID:Vinicius Junior, a young forward from Brazil who plays for Real Madrid, has sworn allegiance to the Spanish Constitution, the team said on Monday.
Real Madrid C. F. announced on its website on Monday that Brazilian star Vinicius Junior had taken an oath of allegiance to the Spanish Constitution on Friday, September 2, and had since acquired Spanish nationality.
He went by the nicknames Vinicius Jr. and Vini Jr. He was born Vinicius Jos Paixo de Oliveira Jonior. On September 10, 2019, he made his senior international debut as a 72nd-minute substitute in Brazil's 1-0 loss to Peru. He has competed for Brazil in Under-17 competition.
Real Madrid acquired him on May 23, 2017, and he made his debut against Athletico Madrid on September 29 as an 87th-minute replacement in a 0-0 tie. In 2017, he began playing football for the Brazilian team Flamengo.
Real Madrid is now in Glasgow, Scotland, where they will play Celtic on Tuesday in the first match of the Champions League Group Stage.
