New Delhi: The central government has set a new economic target. The government is to make the country an economy of five thousand billion dollars by 2025. Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari said that the government can achieve this target by reducing crude oil imports. He said that his ministry has taken several steps to promote biofuels, for example, ethanol and butanol are not only cheap but also necessary for the country as they help us reduce emissions.

The Union Minister said, we import crude oil worth seven lakh crore rupees every year. In such a situation, if we adopt the alternative of biofuels such as ethanol and butanol and use them in cars and aircraft, it will not only be cheap but also pollution-free. Why should we not focus on these options?

Gadkari said, the aviation sector imports Rs 40,000 crore of fuel, if they consider the option of biofuels, it will create a market of Rs 40,000 crore for domestic producers. The Union Minister said that aviation biofuels are widely accepted in the US and UK. If we also use it, we can save our foreign exchange reserves. These steps will reduce our oil imports. At the same time, if we use Napier grass instead of coal, then he is confident that this will help the country to build a five thousand billion dollar economy.
