In the Indian state of Punjab, the government has issued orders to shift Senior Assistant Rajneesh Maini from the Main Secretariat to the Mini Secretariat and shift it from the Political Branch to the PWD. Rajneesh Maini is the same officer who refused to allot rooms to some MLAs in Block-A of Punjab Bhawan in New Delhi, saying that only Chief Secretary and some special officers can stay in this block.
The matter of not allocating the MLAs to the rooms of their choice had been in the news for a long time. Congress legislators raised this matter not only in front of the Chief Minister but also in Punjab assembly session. Although at that time no action was taken on the demand of the legislators to remove the said officer, the action taken after a long time is being linked to the Chief Secretary-Minister dispute.
Apart from this, in order to pacify the ministers and MLAs who are demanding the removal of the Chief Secretary, the Chief Minister defended the Chief Secretary and fired at the officer posted on a minor position. However, this officer had told the government in his clarification as soon as the dispute arose that he had refused to allow the MLAs to allot rooms in Block-A only under the prescribed rules for allotting rooms.
