Shilong: The rehearsal carried out for the visit of Union Home Minister Amit Shah on July 24 and 25, without any prior announcement, has irked several city residents. People who had to visit hospitals for COVID related essential works had to face inconvenience as vehicles were stopped for several hours in different parts of the city. Some farmers, taxi drivers, vendors and office-goers were also affected.

COVID 19 UPDATES: Positive cases increase at alarming rate

Positive cases in Meghalaya  increase at alarming rate with continuously touching 500 mark since few days. On Saturday the state  registered 693 new COVID-19 cases, which pushed the tally of active cases to 4,708, the health department said in a bulletin.

Meanwhile, the state also records 519 new recovered cases in last 24 hours, with this the total recovered cases reaches 54,875. 05 more succumbs to the infections in last 24 hours, taking total number of fatalities from COVID-19 infection to 1,014 so far.
