The month of Sawan is considered to be the month of Lord Shiva and worshiping him in this month is beneficial. There are many such stories in the month of Sawan which should be read or heard. Now today we are going to tell you why Mahalakshmi took the form of Belvriksha…? And why did Shiva believe Bilvriksha to be Shiva Swaroop…? Let's know the story about this.
Story - Naradji once praised Bholenath and asked - Lord what is the best and accessible means to please you. Shivji said- Naradji, although the feelings of the devotee are most dear to me, even if you have asked, I tell you. Along with water, I love the bilpatras. The unbroken bilpatras that I offered with reverence, I give them a place in my world. Naradji worshiped Lord Shankar and Goddess Parvati and went to his lord. After his departure, Parvatiji asked Shivji - Lord, I am very keen to know why you love Belpatra so much. Please pacify my curiosity.
Shivji said, "The leaves of bilva are similar to my 'jata' (hair). His tripatra means three leaves, Rigveda, Yajurveda and Samaveda. Branches are the form of all scripture. You should consider Bilvriksha as Kalpavriksha of the earth, which is Brahma-Vishnu-Shiva Swaroop. Mahalakshmi herself was born in the form of Bilvriksha on Mount Shail, due to this, it is very dear to me. On hearing this Mahalakshmi lost the form of Bilva, Parvatiji fell into curiosity. Parvatiji could not curb the curiosity. She asked - why did Goddess Lakshmi take the form of Bilvriksha? You can tell this story in detail. Bholenath started narrating the story to Goddess Parvati. In Satyayuga, Rameshwar Linga was my part in Jyotirupa. Brahma and other deities duly worshiped him. As a result of this, by my grace, Vaani Devi became everyone's favorite. She became dear to Lord Vishnu.
Lakshmi Devi had some bad feelings towards Srihari. Worried and angry, she quietly went to the supreme best Mount Srisail. There he decided to do penance and started choosing the best place. Mahalakshmi decided to the best place and started a fierce penance of my Linga Vigraha. His austerity was becoming harder. O Parmeshwari, after some time Mahalakshmi ji took the form of a tree slightly upward from my Linga Deity. She started worshiping me continuously with her leaves and flowers. In this way Mahalakshmi worshiped fiercely for one crore years. She eventually received my favor.
I appeared there and asked the Goddess to aspire for this extreme tenacity and was ready to give her a boon. Mahalakshmi asked that my affection in Srihari's heart for Vagdevi be removed. Shivji said- I explained to Mahalakshmi that there is no love for anyone other than you in the heart of Shrihari. He has no love for Vagdevi but reverence. Hearing this, Lakshmiji became happy and again located in the heart of Shri Vishnu and started to vihara with him. Hey Parvati! A major heart disorder of Mahalakshmi was thus overcome. For this reason, Haripriya always worshiped me diligently in the same tree, filled with extreme devotion. Hey Parvati, that's why I love Bilva tree, its leaves. I live in a secluded place with shelter of bilvriksha. Bilvriksha should always be considered as omniscient and all-pervasive. There is no doubt in this. The devotee who worships me with the sandal of Bilvapatra, Bilvful, Bilvriksha or Bilvaksha dears to me.
