Lakhs of domestic and agricultural consumers of the state are less likely to suffer costly electric shock this year. Along with this, the board has sent a proposal to the Electricity Regulatory Commission to make electricity expensive at the rate of 8.73 percent, citing loss of 487 crores. With this, now the board is less likely to increase the rates it wants due to the subsidy of 480 crores. The government had given a subsidy of 475 crores to the board last year. During this time, the Commission had made electricity expensive at the rate of only five paise per unit.
