In the Indian state of Punjab, various concessions to be given by the government during the first phase of Lockdown 5.0 were announced. Under this, shopping malls, hotels, restaurants and religious places will open in the state from Monday 8 June. According to the guidelines issued by the state government on Saturday, the use of clothing trial room in shopping malls will be banned and devotees will not be able to get offerings in religious places.

The state government will review these concessions on June 15, after which the rules may be relaxed a bit. Instructions have been given to strictly ensure social distancing at all public places including religious places. The state government has given permission to drive private and public vehicles from five in the morning to nine in the night.

The Punjab government has allowed all private and public service vehicles to run from 5 am to 9 pm at all places except the Containment Zone. Transport Minister Razia Sultana said that earlier all public service vehicles were prohibited from running from 9 am to 5 pm till 30 June. Buses should not be filled more than 50% of the seating capacity, so that appropriate social distance remains. The minister said that all public service vehicle drivers holding state carriage permits have to ensure that passengers do not just climb from the place where the journey starts and before the end of the journey. The body temperature of every passenger should be checked before boarding the vehicle.
