Dr. Rajendra Prasad was an activist for Indian independence who later rose to the position of First President of India. In Siwan, Bihar, Rajendra Prasad,  was born December 3, 1884, Zeradei, India-- died February 28, 1963. His tenure as President of India spanned the dates of 26 January 1950 and 13 May 1962. Dr. Rajendra Prasad actively participated in the campaign for Indian independence and joined the Indian National Congress, quickly rising to the position of top leader in the Bihar and Bengal region. Dr. Rajendra Prasad was a morally upright individual. After being elected president of India, he enacted a number of reforms. As president of India, he received a high salary—roughly $10,000 at the time—but Dr. Rajendra Prasad limited himself to taking about half of it and retained just one personal assistant with him.

To advance India towards parity with the rest of the world at the time, he offered Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru a number of changes. He had the kind of heart that was honourable.
