Kolkata: Swami Smaranananda Maharaj, the esteemed leader of Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, has passed away at the age of 95 due to age-related illnesses, as announced by the Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has extended his condolences following the demise of the President of Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission.

"Srimat Swami Smaranananda ji Maharaj, the respected President of Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, devoted his life to spirituality and service. He has left an everlasting impression on numerous hearts and minds. His kindness and wisdom will continue to inspire generations. I shared a close bond with him over the years," PM Modi expressed on X.

"I remember my visit to Belur Math in 2020 where I had the opportunity to interact with him. Just a few weeks ago in Kolkata, I visited the hospital and inquired about his health. My thoughts are with the countless devotees of Belur Math. Om Shanti," PM Modi added.

Meanwhile, BJP President also shared his heartfelt condolences, expressing deep sorrow over the passing of Srimat Swami Smaranananda ji Maharaj.

"I am deeply saddened by the demise of Srimat Swami Smaranananda ji Maharaj, the esteemed President of Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission. His profound wisdom and guidance influenced many individuals, leaving a profound impact on humanity. His enduring compassion and enlightenment will continue to inspire future generations. My heartfelt condolences to Swami ji's followers during this challenging time," BJP Chief JP Nadda stated on X.

Additionally, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has also conveyed her deepest condolences to all the fellow monks, followers, and devotees of Swami Smaranananda Maharaj.

"I am deeply saddened by the news of the passing tonight of Srimat Swami Smarananandaji Maharaj, the Revered President of Ramakrishna Math and Mission. This great monk provided spiritual leadership to the global community of Ramakrishnaites during his lifetime and remains a source of comfort for millions of devotees worldwide. My heartfelt condolences to all his fellow monks, followers, and devotees," Mamata Banerjee shared on X.
